To Start or to Grow: the Survival Dilemma of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Ghana: a synthesis of literature.

Abstract

This paper was an incursion into literature, synthesizing the view point of experts as it relate to the operations of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana and in Tamale Metropolis in particular.  Researchers searched literature, with the view to understanding the importance of Small and Medium ScaleEnterprises, factors that inhibit their survival and growth, their role towards poverty reduction and economic development. During the search, the researchers realised that many writers emphases the contribution of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in areas of job creation and employment providing, poverty reduction, bridging the business skill gap, providing goods and services
