The Role of Customs and Excise Duties on Small Enterprises: A Case Study of Women Cross Border Traders

Abstract

Women across border traders have contributed immensely to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic wellbeing since independence and have sustained the country during the peak of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. Thus, this study’s aim is to establish the role of Customs and Excise duties on women cross border traders. To achieve this, a qualitative research methodology centred on the positivist philosophy was adopted. The research design involved a case study approach where data was obtained through self-administered questionnaire at the borders of Beitbridge, Chirundu and Nyamapanda.
