Abstract

In the 1980s, Canada relaxed its immigration rules to accept more Ghanaians under its humanitarian and refugee system which previously did not favour non-whitesSome social scientists have suggested that over time, there is a sense of belonging leading to the preservation of cultural identity within the host nation. However, others have suggested that culturally-based behaviours of immigrants often change over time towards those more prevalent in the host country.
