Milk supply chain analysis in Hawassa-Yirgalem Milk Shed, Southern Ethiopia

Abstract
The milk supply chain analysis was conducted with objective to identify factors affecting milk market entry decision and milk supply volume, and major milk marketing channels with respective performance evaluation. A three stages stratified random sampling procedure was used to select 140 specific farm households. Milk yield obtained per day from cross dairy cow was found to be 5 times higher than milk yield from local dairy cow. Dairy farm with cross bred cow sold 73% of milk produced while those with local cow could sale only 26.8% of total milk produced during the location period.
