Measuring the Performance of Suppliers in Public Institutions: The Use of Weighted Point Average Approach or Model

Abstract

In the past, supplier performance measurement criteria have solely focused on quality of service or delivery as well as pricing. This paper is based on the use of the Weighted Point Average Model as the main basis for determining the overall performance of the suppliers. The study also pinpoints those variables and or indicators identified by research as critical elements typical of a buyer-supplier relationship but which over the years were ignored or sidelined during the supplier assessment processes. Again, the research highlighted the variables that were identified also by research as some of the critical elements essential to a buyer-supplier relationship but which were often times omitted during the supplier assessment or measurement process. This work also sought to pinpoint certain challenges and weaknesses that are evident in the assessment of the performance of suppliers
