Abstract

The study explored employees’ evaluation of the human resource retention strategy within a private security company in Zimbabwe. A sample of seventy-three (55 male and 18 female) were interviewed using a Likert-scaled questionnaire. Data collection used surveys and interviews while analysis used descriptive statistics and content analysis respectively. The study found that the satisfactory retention strategy constituted a bundle of strategies including career development, positive recognition, staff engagement and positive recognition and management style. Aspects of the human resource strategy cited as unsatisfactory by employees included the remuneration strategy and aspects of the management style adopted by management.
