Rent in Bolgatanga Municipality is a major concern in the internal migration industry. This study highlights problems related to rent internal migrants faced in Bolga and provision of affordable housing in the municipality. The objectives were to identify and evaluate the rent and income of the migrants and their ability to acquire affordable housing in Bolga. A quantitative survey approach was adopted for the study. Stratified random sampling technique was used in selecting respondents and their income ability to rent houses whiles purposive sampling technique was adopted for selecting landlords or relatives. The sampling size of internal migrants, landlords, others in Bolga township used were 324, 217, 74 and 65 respectively. 680 questionnaires were self-administered with two research assistants from the University of Development Studies, Navrongo Campus and Procurement and Logistics Management Department, Bolgatanga Polytechnic. In all, 640 were retrieved for the analysis showing a 94.12% response rate. The data were analysed through descriptive statistic of version 22 of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The responses were analysed using statistical tools such as simple regression for the primary data and regression analysis for the secondary data. We included income, interest rate, inflation rate, gross domestic product, remittances, household size, age, educational level, dependency ratio and access to formal credit as control variables.
