Exploring Hotels Understanding of Corporate Social Responsibilities: A Case Study of Selected Hotels in the Tamale Metropolis

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility has been defined as the continuing commitment by businesses to contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families, as well as the local community and society. Studies have shown that businesses can no longer ignore communities within their areas of operations otherwise they risk harmonious coexistence. The study aims at exploring hotels understanding of corporate social responsibilities at the selected hotels in the Tamale Metropolis. The study adopted a descriptive survey research approach. A purposive sampling was used to select the hotels, guest and the managers. The main findings of this study revealed that the managers at the selected hotels in the Tamale Metropolis do not really understand their organizations social responsibility.
