The Ghana Technology University College Library (GTUCL), Accra – Campus, was the setting of the study. The study was conducted to determine the effective use of collection development policies in Academic Libraries. The study adopted a case study design and used a qualitative method in its investigations. A self-designed interview schedule was used to solicit information from all the staff in GTUCL—two (2) professional and three (3) para-professional librarians. Data collected was analysed using content analysis. The interviews were audio -taped and then transcribed based on the major themes.The findings showed that the GTUCL has a collection development policy; however, the policy has not been reviewed since it was written nine (9) years ago.
