Child Marriage and Female Educational Development in the Wa West District: The stakeholders Perspective

Abstract Child marriage have been recognised by governments and human rights activist and advocates to be one of the most “wicked and shameful problems” of our time in Ghana. The cases of child marriage practice in Wa West District, is been noted by stakeholders to be one of the major sources of barriers that obstructs female participation in education. In line with the increasing rates of child marriage in Northern Ghana, the studied identified and evaluated distinct perspectives of stakeholders on the effects of child marriage on female educational development in Wa West District of Ghana, Upper West Region. On the basis of social constructivism, qualitative research approach was employed, and respondent (N=75) were sampled using purposive techniques.
