Assessment of Financial Performances of Public and Private Banks in Ghana.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to assess the performance of both private and public banks in Ghana and to further determine the category of banks that was performing better financially. Research questions and hypothesis were duly formulated to fall in line with this main objective. This work employs the use of the CAMEL Model in assessing the performance of both the Private and Public Banks. Out of the twenty seven (27) class one business licensed banks, two public and two private banks were sampled for this work.
