Analysis of opening title sequence design in Ghanaian video movies

Abstract The title sequence employed in a movie plays a significant role in the success of that movie’s production. A title sequence comes in two parts: the Opening credits, and the End credits. More emphasis is placed on opening credits since they are designed creatively, according to the genre of the movie, to set the tone and emotions of the viewers towards the main story. An End or Closing credit comes at the end of the movie to acknowledge all those who contributed to that movie’s production. In the case of Ghanaian video movies, little is known about how title sequences are employed to prepare the minds and emotions of viewers at the start of the movies. The authors employed a qualitative research approach in this study.
