Adaptive Strategies of the Evacuees Affected by Mount Sinabung Eruption in Siosar Relocation, Indonesia

Abstract The evacuees of Mount Sinabung eruption who have been relocated to Siosar begin their new life for survival in the new environment by establishing a new “colony”, beginning from the very basis. This research used descriptive qualitative method by conducting interviews with 13 informants consisted of the evacuees, the Head of Simacem Village, the Head of Bekerah Village, the Head of Kedaruratan Village, and the personnel of BPBD (Regional Disaster Mitigation Board) logistic of Karo Regency. The result of the research showed that the relocation process had been done in stages, and the evacuees had been able to adapt to their new environment at Siosar.
